Welcome to Tuckamore Lodge situated in the coastal community of Main Brook near St. Anthony along the Viking Trail in Newfoundland. Charming lodge holiday accommodation in the heart ... moreof the Great Northern Peninsula.

We are pleased to offer you luxury first-class, Scandinavian style accommodations in the heart of the Newfoundland wilderness, coupled with some of the highest quality outdoor experiences in Atlantic Canada.

Tuckamore Lodge is situated on the banks of Tuckamore Pond, fringed by a spruce forest which is home to a variety of animals both large and small. From the extensive decks of Tuckamore Lodge, enjoy the morning song of birds, the frantic activity of squirrels, and maybe observe a moose or two grazing on the fresh green grass.

Main Brook is a hub for exploring the heritage trails this area has to offer including the famous Viking Trail which is the largest themed highway in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Grenfell Trail follows the footsteps of Sir Wilfred Grenfell, a medical doctor who had a major impact on the people of Northern Newfoundland, and Labrador. The French Shore connects several coastal communities through the intriquing history of the European fishing crews who braved the North Atlantic waters each spring, to harvest the plentiful cod here.

The Tuckamore Lodge staff and I invite you to visit us and to experience the hospitality and exceptional outdoor experiences that have built Tuckamore's international reputation. We care about people, we take pride in our heritage and we do our best to ensure that you will have wonderful memories.

Fly Fishing
The Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland has some of the world's finest fishing rivers with species such as Brook Trout, Arctic Char, and Atlantic Salmon (being the main catches).

A typical salmon fishing season will begin as the salmon return to our rivers in late June and run until early September. During these months, our rivers are literally teeming with salmon. Tuckamore Lodge provides the best platform from which to put your angling skills to the test, putting you, our guest at the heart of the action.

Our guides are avid fishermen who are keen to show you the best fishing spots and to assist in landing that salmon. Guests at Tuckamore Lodge have a superb record of successful fishing trips. If you'd prefer to catch and release, the guides of Tuckamore Lodge can assist with the correct handling of the fish to ensure its safe return to the water.

Tuckamore Lodge is situated in Main Brook on the Northern Peninsula - the number one salmon and trout fishing destination in Newfoundland.

Hunting
Spring bear hunts run during the month of June (rifle and bow hunting in the fall). Moose, bear and caribou all start on the second day of September. Moose hunting and caribou hunting are open until the second week of December, while the black bear hunting season closes at the end of October. For all big game, there is a two-week pre-season opening for bow hunting only. Tuckamore Lodge, with its picturesque surroundings is the perfect place to take advantage of all the hunting opportunities that Newfoundland, Canada has to offer.

What to Bring
Newfoundland and Labrador is a windy place. For those occasional still days, a bug net may be a consideration if you are adverse to insects and are planning to hike on a forested trail. The majority of time, the bugs are kept at bay! We promise.

The weather can change quickly here. It can be sunny one minute, and rainy the next. If you plan on being out on the water, the temperature can drop as much as 15 degrees. It is important to dress appropriately and to plan for having a dry change of clothes should the weather turn bad.
